It is a regular feature of WMA conferences to invite emerging word and music scholars to present shorter papers, not necessarily on the conference’s main topic. This gives them an opportunity of reaching a wider audience for their work in progress. The most interesting papers are selected to be published online on the WMS website.
The conference section of Shorter Papers (formerly Forum), introduced at the Berlin conference, is meant to give word and music scholars an opportunity of presenting their work (in progress) to their colleagues without the need of conforming to given conference topics. The most interesting Shorter Papers are selected to be published online on the WMA website. Especially early-career scholars are encouraged to take up the opportunities of Shorter Papers presentations at WMA conferences.
